March 2012 issue of symmetry available

Today marks the launch of a new era: Starting today symmetry magazine will be published once a month online and sent to subscribers in an easy-to-access email format. Breaking news will continue to appear in this blog, and two additional print issues will come out each year.

In another important change, SLAC's Kelen Tuttle will take over as editor-in-chief starting with the April issue.  If her name sounds familiar, it may be because she has been a frequent contributor to the magazine since 2005.

The new format gives symmetry more ways to interact with readers and to present information with more richness and depth.  In this issue, for instance, you'll find:

Ten things you may not know about the Higgs boson

The cosmic-ray riddle, with a timeline covering a century of cosmic-ray research, a sidebar on Fermilab cosmic-ray pioneer John Linsley and links to other resources, including a page from Enrico Fermi's notebook and a video from Pierre Auger Observatory in Argentina.

"Happy Webiversary!" celebrating the start of the first website in North America at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, with links to a rich archive of early Web stuff.

An interview with David Saltzberg, UCLA physics professor and science advisor for the hit TV show The Big Bang Theory.

Plus letters from readers on the delights of nerdiness and the safety of Accelerator Driven Systems.

Enjoy!  We'll see you again in April.
