Just over one week to circulating LHC beams?

The CERN Bulletin reports today that LHC beams may be circulating all the way around the 27-kilometer ring in just over one week. The first collisions at low energy (900 GeV, the energy with which beams are injected into the LHC) would follow shortly after. Six of the eight LHC sectors are ready to circulate beams at energies up to 1.2 TeV, with the remaining two to be powered up over the next week.

Also in the Bulletin, the real story behind the bird and the baguette.
